Dr Tony Devine, Founder and Executive Director of LeadIn – the Education Division of Global Peace Foundation will be making his first visit to Malaysia from 6 to 10 September 2013!
He has more than 30 years of leadership experience in the non-governmental organization (NGO) sector.
He oversees the development of Character, Creativity and Leadership programs in various countries, such as Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Paraguay, Brazil, Malaysia, Indonesia, Korea, Mongolia, Philippines and USA.
In Kenya he pioneered a school wide Character and Creativity Initiative in high schools that exposes youth to an experiential learning environment that builds 21st century competencies of character, creativity and leadership through transforming school culture. Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis, the largest think tank in country – has completed a two year evaluation that demonstrates improved school culture, increased academic performance, reduced disciplinary problems, increased teacher satisfaction and student motivation and decreased social problems such as violence and bullying. In Atlanta Georgia he developed a Leadership Academy in middle schools facilitated by university students that empowers youth in collaboration with cross sector partners representing Federal, State, City Government, Non-Profit and Business.
He is an Adjunct Professor, Social Studies, School of Continuing & Professional Studies, University of Bridgeport, CT. He holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Bridgeport, Bridgeport, Connecticut. He is Co-editor / Co-author: “Cultivating Heart and Character: Educating for Life’s Most Essential Goals.”
