14 November, Kajang – The Global Peace team was delighted to be part of the UNITEN Youth Festival. One of the three main components of the programme was Youth On Peace, which promotes active and sustainable voluntarism.
With a comfortable booth filled with beanbags and inspirational quotes, the team set out to speak to aspiring youth with a passion to make the world a better place. The long day passed, and we managed to speak to close to a hundred students who were keen to learn more about our efforts in peace building.
Peace building is not just an absence of war; it is also building an altruistic culture of love. The first step to peace building and contributing to social good is to understand our temperaments and personal correlation to the society. Mooza, Youth Engagement Officer of Global Peace hosted two twenty-minutes interactive workshop to help students of UNITEN understand stereotypes and social stigma.
Editor’s thought: A great outreach experience for our interns and volunteer (a big thanks to Stacy!). We look forward to engage with more youth from various universities around Malaysia, and beyond.
