About Us

Global Peace Foundation Malaysia was officially registered in Malaysia in the year 2011. Our journey began with a mission to empower and transform the lives of at-risk youth and underserved communities. We initially engaged with at-risk youth through sports programs, collaborated with schools on character development, and fostered a culture of volunteerism among young people.

Over the years, our focus has evolved in response to the changing needs of the communities we serve. A significant shift occurred as we started to work more closely with the Orang Asli communities, recognizing the unique challenges and developmental gaps they faced. This led to a strategic pivot towards a more holistic approach to development. Today, our efforts are streamlined to address a wide range of needs within the Orang Asli communities, including access to basic needs such as clean water, sanitation, and sustainable livelihoods through regenerative farming. Education programs for children and marketing support for their produce and value-added products are also integral parts of our work now.

Yes, Global Peace is officially registered under the Company Commission of Malaysia (SSM) as a Company Limited By Guarantee (CLBG). This legal entity is commonly utilized for nonprofit organizations. In a CLBG, the liability of its members is limited to a predetermined amount that they agree to contribute towards the company’s debts, should it be wound up.

The CLBG entity is specifically designed to suit nonprofit purposes. Unlike traditional companies, it does not issue shares or have shareholders. Instead, it operates with members who act as guarantors, rather than shareholders. Being a CLBG requires us to maintain proper accounting records, submit annual financial statements, and adhere to stringent regulatory requirements, ensuring transparency and accountability in all our operations.

Our SSM registration number is 201101008789 (936928-H).

Global Peace is deeply committed to community development within the Orang Asli community, concentrating our efforts on three critical areas to foster resilience and enhance quality of life:

  1. Improving Access to Basic Necessities: Many Orang Asli villages suffer from a lack of essential infrastructure, including clean water, sanitation facilities, reliable electrification, and adequate housing. Our programs aim to bridge these gaps, ensuring that these communities have access to basic human rights, which are fundamental to improving their well-being and health.
  2. Addressing Educational Challenges: The Orang Asli community faces significant educational hurdles, characterized by high dropout rates among children and generally low literacy levels. To combat these challenges, we implement learning programs directly within villages for out-of-school children and collaborate with schools on youth empowerment initiatives. These efforts are designed to create more inclusive, supportive educational environments that encourage continued learning and development.
  3. Building Sustainable Livelihoods: The Covid-19 pandemic exposed the acute vulnerabilities of the Orang Asli community, especially regarding food security, malnutrition, and economic instability. In response, we have launched various farming programs aimed at promoting food sovereignty and connecting their produce to broader markets. These initiatives not only address immediate needs but also empower the community with sustainable practices and economic opportunities for the future.

Through these focused efforts, Global Peace strives to create lasting, positive change, ensuring the Orang Asli communities can thrive and build resilient futures.

Global Peace’s mission to uplift the Orang Asli community is supported through a diverse funding model that leverages the strength of partnerships and the generosity of grant-giving foundations. Over the years, we have forged meaningful CSR partnerships with various businesses across Malaysia. These collaborations are not just financial endorsements but are crucial alliances that amplify our impact and extend our reach within the communities we serve.

In addition, we are also recipients of grants from foundations dedicated to grant-giving. These grants are instrumental in scaling our initiatives, allowing us to address immediate needs and invest in long-term development programs for the Orang Asli community.

These sources of funding are the backbone of our ability to carry out our mission. They enable us to continue our work in community development, education, and sustainable livelihoods, ensuring that we can make a tangible difference in the lives of the Orang Asli people.

No, the Global Peace Foundation is firmly committed to being a non-religious and non-partisan organization. At the heart of our work is a diverse team that embodies and celebrates inclusivity, engaging individuals from all walks of life, across various racial and religious backgrounds.

Our foundational principles are rooted in the belief that all of humanity is interconnected, transcending our differences to unite us as a single human family. This philosophy is encapsulated in our vision of “One Family under God,” guiding our efforts to foster peace, understanding, and cooperation among communities around the world.

Global Peace Foundation Malaysia is headquartered in Petaling Jaya, serving as the central hub for administrative duties and partnership coordination. Our work is deeply rooted in direct community engagement, with a significant focus—approximately 80%—on serving the underserved Orang Asli villages within the Rompin, Pekan, and Bera districts of Pahang. To support these efforts effectively, we have established a field office in Muadzam Shah. This strategic location allows us to better facilitate our project work and provides easier access to the various villages we support.

Our dedicated team, comprising around 20 full-time staff members, is deeply committed to a range of programs designed to uplift these communities, addressing their needs through holistic and participatory development approaches.

In addition to our concentrated efforts in Pahang, Global Peace also extends its reach to other states, including projects in Sabah and Sarawak.

  1. Rigorous Financial Oversight: Our financial operations are subject to strict oversight by a dedicated team. This includes tiered approval process, regular internal reviews and audits to ensure compliance with established accounting principles and practices.
  2. External Audits: We engage reputable, independent auditors to conduct annual audits of our financial statements. These audits are designed to provide an unbiased evaluation of our financial health and adherence to transparency standards.
  3. Donor Reporting: We believe in keeping our donors informed. To this end, we provide detailed reports on how contributions are being utilized, ensuring donors can see the direct impact of their generosity on our projects and initiatives.
  4. Regulatory Compliance: As a registered non-profit organization, we adhere to the regulations set forth by relevant authorities, including the submission of annual financial statements and compliance with non-profit governance standards.
  5. Project-Specific Funding: When donations are made to specific projects, we track and report on those funds separately, ensuring they are used as intended and providing accountability to our donors.
