This month the world is commemorating Nelson Mandela International Day on the 18th July.
The Global Peace Foundation (Malaysia) is taking this opportunity to create awareness and promote the values exemplified by Nelson Mandela in his long walk for freedom.
Lately, our society has been plagued by issues on race, religion and extremism which continue to escalate. This has caused increasing fear, distrusts and pessimism to our already segregated community. The lack of empathy and concerns between people have also created an opportunity for more crimes to happen.
It is important that we shed some light of hope to the public through the life’s work and leadership of Nelson Mandela. Though many know him as a champion who abolished apartheid in South Africa, few understand how he managed to unite one of the most racially divided country in the world. Global Peace Foundation, in the course of nurturing future leaders has been educating youths through the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela and we have seen how people’s perspectives are transformed. A deeper understanding of Nelson Mandela can lead us to the path to address the biggest challenge to our humanity now.
Several activities have been planned to engage the youth and public.
