In conjunction with the ‘Sambutan Minggu Perpaduan 2013’ organized Jabatan Perpaduan Negara dan Integrasi Nasional (JPNIN) – GPF Malaysia was selected and honored with special appreciation awards presented by Y.B. Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Joseph Kurup, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department to Tan Sri Datin Paduka Seri Hajah Zaleha Ismail, GPF Malaysia’s chairman.
GPF Malaysia is recognized as the leading NGO in Malaysia that champions campaigns for promoting peace and unity.

In his speech earlier, Y.B. Tan Sri Joseph Kurup mentioned that it is essential for us to preserve peace, even in times of peace. As a result of the recently concluded General Elections 13, many took to the streets with illegal rallies and protests and he felt that it is high time for us, Malaysians to unite and tackle this phenomenon. He hoped that the Sambutan Minggu Perpaduan will be a great success and that it will become a community platform to repair any ill feelings or negative sentiments.
Also present at the event were, Y.Bhg Dato’ Azman Amin bin Hassan, Ketua Pengarah JPNIN and Y.Bhg Tuan Haji Abdul Karim bin Haji Abu Seman, Pengarah JPNIN Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur.

In addition to the awards ceremony, GPF Malaysia – representing the NGOs category; took part in the signing ceremony of a memorandum which aims to strengthen partnerships between government agencies, private sectors, NGOs and community organizations in joint efforts to promote unity and harmony as part of nation-building.
