โEight years ago, in 2016, we began with a simple intention, to help a village gain access to clean water.
Back then, the well had gone dry, and women in the community would make long, tiring journeys to fetch water from distant wells and carry it back home. It was a modest beginning, born out of a desire to make life a little easier for one small village, Kampung Binjai.โ

In 2016, Malaysia made notable progress in reducing absolute poverty, with the poverty rate dropping to 0.4%. However, significant urban-rural divides in wealth and access to services persisted.
United Nations Human Rights Office. (2019, August 15). Malaysia vastly undercounting poverty, says UN rights expert.
Basic needs such as clean water and reliable infrastructure also remained challenges for many rural communities, reflecting a disparity in development compared to urban centers. These gaps highlighted the need for targeted interventions to ensure equitable growth and improve living conditions in underdeveloped regions.
These challenges are exemplified in the struggles of the Orang Asli communities where we work with, where water poverty disproportionately affects women. To learn more about this issue, watch the video below

Fast forward to 2025, and we are astounded by how far we have come. What started as a single act of support has blossomed into a movement of empowerment and transformation. Through determination, collaboration, and persistent belief in the power of change, our reach has grown beyond what we ever thought possible.
