In the deep jungles of Pahang, the orang asli live a life deprived of basic needs like clean water. Water poverty is an everyday peril to the community but for the women tasked with fetching water, it is a threat that is slowly eroding their identity as an orang asli, a mother, and a woman.
Life may seem bleak when your struggles define you. A woman who has lost count of how many welts line her skin from scratching. A mother not able to do anything as her son cries from stomach pains after drinking unclean water. A wife who goes to sleep at the end of the day, her fatigued body a reminder that tomorrow, nothing changes.
Together with our partners, we aim to uplift the lives of the underserved orang asli community by providing them with this most basic of needs, clean water. Through continuous engagement and a holistic approach to community development, we work together towards sustainable solutions that empower the community to free themselves from the cycle of hardship and poverty that entrap them.
