Trek in the Annapurna region – while enjoying the spectacular view of the Himalayan range, you get to lead and develop an intimate team. There will be time for quiet self-reflection and experience sharing.

Day 1

Arrival at Kathmandu, Welcome Reception and Orientation

Forming the capital city of the Republic of Nepal, Kathmandu is known as the largest Himalayan state in Asia and the largest metropolis in Nepal. Check-in and freshen up for an informative and fun orientation session with delegates from various countries whom you would be spending an adventurous 11 days with as one family!

Day 2

Leadership Workshop and Cultural Tour of Kathmandu Valley

The Global Peace Leadership workshop taps into quintessential frameworks to global leadership through hands-on activities that will unleash your individual strengths, purpose, and empathy that builds self-worth and social skills.

Kathmandu, Nepal – A riot of sights, sound, and smell!

Immerse yourself in culture as you visit the stunning attractions listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Durbar Square, the Royal Palace, and the enchanting Boudhanath Stupa. Learn more about the locals’ devotion to Buddhism and the philosophy that shapes their way of life through a Buddhist cultural programme.

Day 3

Kathmandu APPDSA Forum on “Smart and Green Cities Equipping Youth Social Enterprise to Achieve 2030 Sustainable Development Goals”

In line with the United Nation’s 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, you will take active part in the SDG panel discussion to realise these goals for you are the active drivers of change in the local community and the world.

Day 4

Bagmati River Cleaning and Cultural Heritage Tour of Ancient Bhaktapur

The Bagmati River flows through Kathmandu Valley and is considered holy by both Buddhists and Hindus. However, pollution is a constant threat to her waters. You will be part of the Bagmati River Cleaning efforts to preserve and restore the river, while learning about its historical, cultural, and religious importance.

Following that, delve into the architectural wonder of Bhaktapur, an ancient royal city that houses monuments, shrines, and palaces. Some of the structures were damaged during the 2015 earthquake but you will see that the city is rebuilding itself through the people’s determination and sense of community.

Day 5

White Water Trishuli River Rafting / Move to Pokhara Lakeside

Partake in an exhilarating water rafting experience in the Trishuli River that would put your team working and leadership capabilities the test. It is an excellent river for some exciting, but not too challenging, rapids.

And then travel to and spend the night in one of the most popular destinations in Nepal, Pokhara.

Day 6 – 8

Trek to Tatopani Route and Poon Hill Destination / Service and Youth Cultural Exchange In Villages

“To Adventure is to Find Yourself Whole”

Breathe in the fresh mountain air as you explore Nepal’s great outdoors through green and sustainable trekking activities for community development.

Pokhara is famous for being the start of many treks across the Himalaya region. You will be trekking across the Annapurna region, travelling through the Tatopani Route towards Poon Hill. Set against the backdrop of the majestic Himalayan range, this journey is the perfect time to test your endurance and team spirit, relax your mind, and make you feel closer to the wonders of Mother Nature.

As the experience in Nepal draws closer to the end, the programme emphasises on the powerful act of reflection and sharing of takeaways.

Day 9

Poon Hill Young Leadership Summit

Located at about 3,210m above sea level, Poon Hill will host the Young Leadership Summit that addresses topics such as mountain region youth and community development. You will be part of the discussion on sustainable environmental tourism and youth development along with the village youths.

Day 10 – 11

Conclude Annapurna Youth Workshop and Exchange / Return Trek to Tatopani

Trek back to the starting point along the Tatopani Route. As you pass by Ghandruk, you will learn more about the Annapurna Conservation Area Programme, and visit a temple as well as a museum of mountain village life.

Day 12

Return to Pokhara

Return to Pokhara by bus, where you will be presented a certificate to symbolise your graduation from Global Peace Youth Exchange. Right after the graduation ceremony, you will be treated to a farewell dinner to celebrate your graduation as GPYE Alumni! Enjoy your last meal with your newfound family in Nepal and prepare for your departure flight the next day.

Anyone between 18 – 35 years old can apply, we will review your application and inform you within a few days. If you are below 18 or above 35 and are very eager to join GPYE, you may still apply and tell us why joining GPYE means something to you.

The outdoor activities are designed for people with average fitness. If you are worried about your physical fitness, do let us know what you can and cannot do and we will advise you if this is suitable for you. We have had a delegate (over 95 kg weight) who thought he wouldn’t make it and through the team support and pure determination, he made it through, and that totally changed what he thought about himself.

Once you applied online, we will get back to you in 3-5 days if your application is accepted. The payment details will then be sent to you.

The fee covers lodgings, meals, and domestic transportation throughout the program. The program starts with dinner on May 13 and ends with breakfast on May 25. Not included in the fee are your flight tickets and airport transfers to the hotel in Kathmandu.
